Time & Location
Dec 03, 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Matka Studio, 456 Johnson Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206, USA
About the event
Join us Cannabis Yoga, led by Henry Kandel and two other facilitators, at Matka Studio, 456 Johnson Ave.
Flow: This 3-hour class will begin with a brief intention-setting circle where we consume low-dose cannabis edibles together.
We will then:
- Apply "waking state" practices from Tibetan Dream Yoga to become more aware of our bodies and minds (and increase the chance of lucid dreams!)
- Learn a subtle pranayama (breath practice) that incorporates visualization of "channels" in the body to balance our emotional energies.
- Practice gentle asanas (postures) in a unique way that supports our ability to move through the situations and challenges of our lives.
After that, the practices themselves will evolve from these traditional starting points to embody the creative, playful spirit of cannabis medicine.
Finally, there will be a feast of healthy munchies!
Are there prerequisites?
No! All levels are welcome, and no prior yoga experience is necessary. Every practice will be simple and basic, yet deep and powerful. Advanced practitioners will be given options for more challenging variations.
If you’re relatively new to cannabis, you’ll discover its nature as an “Upaya,” a helpful tool on the yogic path. If you consume it regularly, you may feel a renewed appreciation for its profound synergy with our human experience, and may even transform your relationship with the plant.
While aspects of the practice complement each other, these classes can be taken independently or asynchronously.
Should I bring anything?
Along with a THC/CBD beverage, provided as a gift at the venue in both 4mg and 10mg options, we will have:
- Yoga Mats, Blocks, Bolsters
- Snacks/Fruits aka munchies
Please bring comfortable and flexible clothing, as well as a yoga mat if you have one; we will have a very limited number of mats the venue.
All participants are required to sign a waiver before attending the class. You will receive instructions for completing the waiver in your confirmation email after purchasing a ticket.
