A little history on Bicycle Day: On April 19, 1943, Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann intentionally ingested 0.25 milligrams of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD). Less than one hour later, Hofmann experienced sudden and intense changes in perception. He asked his laboratory assistant, Susi Ramstein (the first woman to take LSD), to escort him home by bicycle. On the way, Hofmann's condition rapidly deteriorated as he struggled with alternating feelings of anxiety, that he was going insane, and that the LSD had poisoned him. Soon after, his terror began to give way to a sense of good fortune and enjoyment. Thus marking the most notable bike ride in history. The observance was first celebrated in DeKalb, Illinois in 1985 and, over the years, grew into a widely celebrated event.

We can't wait to celebrate with you! 🚲
