About the event
Join BPS members and facilitators for an intentional getaway at a beautiful private property an hour outside NYC.
BPS is interested in creating the conditions for meaningful, supportive relationships to develop among our community here in Brooklyn. The purpose of this day-long retreat is to provide an opportunity for all BPS members and facilitators to get to know each other better, have fun, and reflect on the kind of community we are growing here in Brooklyn.
The Plan
Location: 1785 Spring Valley Rd. in Ossining, on a private property just an hour outside NYC and accessible via the Metro North. Check out some pics here!
Getting there: We would love to head up to Ossining as a group and will be coordinating rides on this spreadsheet—if you have a car, please put yourself on the sheet and indicate the number of extra seats.
There may also be a contingent of us who take the train together. That group will meet together at Grand Central Station at 12:00pm.
Schedule: The day will be a balance of programming and leisure time.
- 1:00 - 1:30 PM: Arrival
- 1:30 - 2:00 PM: Grounding / Ice-breaking
- 2:00 - 2:30 PM: Intro to Trellis and Group Envisioning
- 2:30 - 5:30 PM: Facilitator Offerings
- 5:30 - 7:00 PM: Dinner
- 8:00 - 10:00 PM: Sound bath, bonfire
June 16, Sunday (optional)
- 9:00 - 10:00 AM: Breakfast
- 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Leisurely departure
Evening Sound Bath: At the end of the day, there will be an opportunity to share in a ceremonial cacao experience and sound bath. Please note that BPS does not sell or distribute psychedelic substances; however, we do not prohibit you from exercising your cognitive liberty.
Camping: This is optional, but encouraged! The property is sprawling and there are plenty of soft, level places to pitch a tent.
Food: Dinner and breakfast will be served. We will do our best to provide healthy options, as well as vegan and GF options. However, we suggest that everyone come prepared with snacks and a collaborative, helper-oriented spirit.
Cost: We are not charging anything. All we ask is that everyone contributes to the cost of food, which we estimate at $30.
What you need to bring:
- Picnic blankets, lawn chairs, back jacks, etc. (We will be on grass)
- Tents, bedding, flashlight (for those camping out)
- Snack/drinks
- Bug spray
- Musical instruments or any other artistic expression you’d like to share!
- Yoga mats + anything you feel would… enhance your enjoyment of the evening sound bath
- Organize rides using this spreadsheet.
Please note that this event is invitation-only and is reserved for BPS members and those who have demonstrated a dedicated curiosity and investment in the Brooklyn Psychedelics Society’s vision of community-based transformation.
We hope you will join us for this day of connection and collaboration. To help us estimate how much food we will need to prepare, please RSVP no later than June 8th.
Our hope is that we come away rejuvenated, inspired, better known to each other, more grounded in our shared vision, and further on our way in establishing a culture of mutual support and skill- and knowledge-sharing among intentional psychedelic journeyers here in Brooklyn. Don’t miss this opportunity to share your hopes and infuse your spirit into the future of BPS!
