Mushroom Cultivation Course

Hello Brooklyn Psychedelic Society Community!

We’re so excited to announce another Mushroom Cultivation Course on Tuesday, May 9th! In this workshop mycologist Avery Stempel will discuss a few low tech, at home methods for growing a variety of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. We will start with the lifecycle of some common fungi, explore ways different mushrooms impact health and mental well being, and look at ways mushrooms can mycoremediate toxins in the environment. We will then delve into ways various mushrooms can be grown in your kitchen, closet, backyard, or any small to large excess space. Examples of sterile techniques, transfer processes, growing environments, microclimates, and suggested uses for freshly harvested fruit will be given. A brief question-and-answer discussion will follow.

Avery Stempel (@collar_city_mushrooms) is an indoor urban mushroom farmer, citizen scientist, philosopher, poet and psychonaut. He believes the future is fungal and is working to spread knowledge that is critical to creating a sustainable and healthy society. Mushrooms can help reprogram the damages humans have caused to the environment. He hopes that the growing awareness of the fungi kingdom’s prowess will bring people together in a mycelial network that will be stronger because of its connections.

Please note the following...

• A General Admission ticket is required in order to participate in this event. 
• Grow kits are  available to pre-order for those attending this event. Each kit includes one grow bag and one spore syringe.
• Available strains for grow kit spores are Golden Teacher and Dancing Tigers. 
• Orders for grow kits must be placed at least one week in advance (no later than May 2nd). 
• In order to receive a grow kit, you must also be attending this event with a General Admission Ticket.
