About the event
Humans have been working with bodily suffering to alter consciousness for centuries. While these traditions have been mostly repressed by hedonists and modern proclivities for pleasure and comfort, more and more people are discovering the deep nourishment and healing benefits of pain. And the best part? It is entirely legal and free!
Dolores L. Quincy has been facilitating Pain-Consciousness workshops for thirteen years. She uses both ancient and modern pain techniques, teaching participants how the nervous system creates pain signals and how to exploit these to explore deeper states of pain consciousness.
In this three-hour workshop, Dolores will work with a variety of sub-modalities, including:
- stubbed toes
- pinching
- the practice of withholding expressions of discomfort, known as “ouch retention”
- needle-mat yoga
- brain freeze
- candle-flame exercises
For many, pain is scary, something to be avoided at all costs. Who wants to hurt? Isn’t hurting bad for you? Isn’t that why hurting hurts? By the end of the workshop, participants will relate to their own pain and discomfort as a road to bliss and transcendence.
Join the BPS community and explore your body’s innate ability to heal itself through hurting itself. This is our birthright!
Feeling bad never felt so good.
