Quantum Bullsh*t: Physics, Consciousness and Psychedelics

It’s an exciting time to be interested in psychedelics and consciousness. Join us while a physicist and a science teacher guide us through the murky waters of metaphysical speculation on a quest to understand what the actual science says.

About the event

It’s no secret that psychonauts like to speculate about the nature of the universe. And with all the activity in the fields of neuroscience, physics, and psychedelics, it’s never been a more exciting time to explore the Big Questions. But where does all that conjecture meet the actual science?

Physicist Sohang Gandhi, Ph.D. and science teacher Henry Kandel team up to address this fundamental question. Through an entertaining presentation, small group exercises and a lively Q+A, we will point our intellects right at the heart of the mystery and ask: “What is consciousness and why would physics have anything to do with it?”

The name of the game is “no bullsh*t.” Using minimal jargon and no math, Dr. Gandhi and Henry Kandel will elucidate specific theories within modern physics and the current approaches to the science of consciousness. Specifically, they will discuss a recent framework that connects quantum mechanics to consciousness and the flow of time.

Join us if you want to:

  • understand various metaphysical interpretations of quantum mechanics
  • upgrade your bullsh*t pseudoscience detector
  • discover possibilities about the physical meanings of a range of psychedelic experiences
  • connect with other curious minds!

Dr Sohang Gandhi has a PhD in theoretical physics and a lifelong interest in Eastern Mysticism. Henry Kandel is a teacher of physics, astronomy and yoga with a flair for explaining deep and difficult concepts. Their goal is to provide key answers even as they deepen our appreciation of what is not yet known–and what may be ultimately unknowable.

We hope you’ll join us on this adventure into mystery!
